The Hawaiʻi Public Health Institute (HIPHI) is working to change that by advancing Farm to Food Bank, a statewide program that provides funding for food banks to purchase food directly from Hawaiʻi farmers.
NCBDI was founded in 1970 and is the only national organization focused solely on the unique attributes and needs of Black children, birth through age 8. Within this vibrant space, we’ve been able to develop a deep sense of community, celebrate their cultural identity and joy, and advocate for Black children and their health and wellbeing.
The Powerbuilding Program was created to connect BIPOC-led community organizations with dedicated funding, technical assistance, and peer learning opportunities centered around policy advocacy and sustainability to bolster the power they already hold. Robert (Bob) Pezzolesi, MPH, ODHM,of IPHN discusses his organization's policy advocacy work with CSPI in service of healthier communities in New York, including collaborative campaigns for warning labels for chain restaurant foods high in sodium and added sugars, better nutrition standards for restaurant kids’ meals, limiting the predatory marketing of unhealthy food and beverages to children, and reducing harmful chemical additives in our food supply.
In 2025, food and health policy organizations across the country are being forced to navigate historic and devastating blows to the funding streams, infrastructure, workforce, and narratives around research and the crucial programs they inform.
